Mr. Guy Meredith is an Assistant Director of the International Monetary Fund. Before returning to the Fund in January 2001, he served in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) as Executive Director (Research) from 1998 to 2000, overseeing economic research and market research. He had also acted as the Director of the HKIMR since its inception in 1999 until he left the HKMA. From 1980 to 1989 he served in research and policy positions in the Bank of Canada and in the Canadian Government's Department of Finance. From 1990 to 1997 he held senior positions in the International Monetary Fund, specializing in research into the economies of the Asian region, including Hong Kong.
